What is Ars Currendi about?

I hear you. You’ve somehow stumbled upon this website with no idea what it’s all about. First of all, welcome! Secondly, here’s some explanation about what I do.

Ars Currendi is a place where I write blog posts about travelling.

These blog posts are split into two big categories: travel stories and travel tips.

If all you’re looking for is entertainment, my travel stories are the place to be. For example, you can read about how I got stuck in the snow in Spain, how I spent the perfect six days in Malta, how I had a mystery dinner in Osaka or how I made way too many mistakes on my first solo trip to Dublin. Spoiler alert: these stories include a lot of mistakes and cringe-worthy moments. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Solo travellers looking for ways to travel better and more efficiently or save some money would be better off taking a look at my travel-related tips. I have a miniseries of blog posts dedicated to teaching you how to travel alone and not spend a fortune, I have posts about how to be an Erasmus student and I can teach you how to build the perfect travel itinerary.

About me

Again, welcome to Ars Currendi! Allow me to tell you something about myself. My name is Sander. I was born in Belgium on a sunny Sunday morning. I’m a 20-something copywriter at an Antwerp-based communication agency.

I spend too much time on Twitter, I write blog posts about my travels and people always say that I look grumpy. Whenever I discover a new song I like, I’ll continuously listen to that song until I’m bored of it. The last thing I googled was whether or not penguins have knees (they do!)

I get really excited when I’m planning a trip, and I always share this excitement with everyone and anyone who is even remotely interested.

On my travels, I make mistakes. A lot of them. Nevertheless, I keep finding myself writing about those mistakes and creating stories about things that happened when I was on the road.

This blog is the result of all that writing. You can follow along whenever I take a trip, so you can find out what kind of mistakes I made (and how you can avoid them).

The map above shows every country I’ve been to and written one or more blog posts about (in red) and every country I plan on visiting soon (in blue). You can click the countries in red and you’ll be redirected to a page that shows all blog posts about that country. Read more on my “Where I’ve Been” page.

Travel videos

My blog posts aren’t the only way in which I share my travel experiences with anyone and everyone who bothers to listen. I also make a travel video of every single trip I take, which I share on my YouTube channel. You can also find these videos on my “Travel videos” page.

Thank you for taking a look here! Enjoy your stay and be sure to talk to me in the comment section 😉
